“ This spot has a great vibe. Parking is good in back and around alley are some spots. The wait staff seemed overwhelmed but did eventually get caught up and help us. The brisket tacos was a bit dry so we tried to dip in bbq sauce but ran out and could not get more so we abandoned that dish for the lovely cut pork nachos( great dish and not too spicy but had flavor) drinks here are on point. Smokey old fashions and such specialty crafted cocktails here. Bar tender was overwhelmed with orders could have used a 2nd hand back there ( at least during the happy hour buzz ”
“ more like a 3.7/5 actually.... got one of the combos, i forget. the meats were pretty awesome, and the bbq sauce went well with it too. the cornbread was perfectly moist and sweet, and the mac and cheese hit the spot! the fixings were where things fell a bit short. i expected the fixings to complement the heaviness of the meats and cheese/carbs... instead, it added more saltiness that didn't really cut it. good if youre craving some bbq but if u could find a place with a more holistic experience... do dat ”
“ This is one of my go-to spots for happy hour, and they have some tasty appetizers and drinks. Food: Nachos - The queso and toppings on these nachos are truly amazing! I love the crunch from the homemade tortilla chips and the tangy bite from the pickled onions. Absolutely a 5/5 Cornbread - So moist on the inside! It's not like that dry/dense, crumbly cornbread, this one is soft, slightly sweet and simply delicious. I actually had a little debate at the table because for me, I'd choose this cornbread over Hatchet Hall's. I prefer cornbread that's slightly sweet and moist rather than dense and savory, but that's just my opinion. 5/5 Brisket Tacos - Always a good choice! However, sometimes the tortillas can be a bit too hard to chew. 4/5 Wings - I could definitely pass on these. They're supposedly smoked, but they don't pack much flavor. Maybe if they had a buffalo-style sauce, I'd enjoy them more. 2.5/5 Drinks: Smoked Old-Fashioned - If you love a good old-fashioned, their smoked version is amazing--at least according to the old-fashioned enthusiasts at my table. 4/5 Classic Margarita - I actually really like their classic margarita! It has a nice balance--not too strong, which I prefer. I even ordered two that night and wouldn't have minded a third, and I'm not much of a drinker. 4/5 Dessert: My waiter recommended the chocolate chip cookies, but honestly, I've had better. If dessert is your thing, I'd pass on this and just get another drink instead. 2.5/5 Service - Always great! The staff is welcoming and friendly. Cleanliness - Good. This will definitely remain one of my go-to neighborhood spots for happy hour. Definitely CHECK THEM OUT!!! ”
“ I have been to Maple Block twice, both during DineLA. My first time there, they were out of brisket and offered tri tip as a substitution, so I got a plate of tri-tip, pulled pork, mac & cheese, and ranch beans. The second time, they had brisket, so I had the same plate again but with brisket instead of tri tip. The pulled pork was the best of all the meats that I tried. The brisket was decent despite being a little dry. The tri-tip was terrible. Thank goodness that it is not on the regular menu because it was chewy to the point of being practically inedible. The mac & cheese was as expected. The beans were not my favorite. Excluding the tri-tip because it was such an outlier, the food was overall okay. However, the location is great. When the weather is nice, Maple Block's outdoor patio is a good casual spot to hang out at. There is happy hour on the weekdays from 4 to 6 P.M. and brunch on the weekends. The staff is super nice. There is a small parking lot and plenty of street parking. ”
“ Good service in spite of catering to a large group a rather difficult table some people I was with even wanted to move inside. One person with me made the unusual request of no ice in a cocktail (WTF?) props on service for dealing with that. There also was some miscommunication in regard to what smoked old fashioned was unavailable/86ed from the menu. Overall I loved all of my dishes except the Macaroni side it should either be adjusted or 86ed. The beans and rest of the dishes were amazing. Also their pickling methods for their pickles and onions are top notch. Overall a good establishment and I didn't notice a Barback so the Bartender soloing it all was an MVP tonight. That smoked old fashioned imparts an overall amazing flavor that paired well with the brisket. 10/10 on service for suggesting it. ”
“ I was very pleased with the restaurant's ambiance. Entering the restaurant after walking around the busy Culver City area was such a relieved. They have plenty of parking spots next to the restaurant. We went on a Tuesday, so again couldn't help myself to get some tacos. The tacos were amazing especially the pork belly and well priced, $4-$4.50. They have a very good line cook special, one beer and a shot of tequila, $11. This restaurant also have a pretty cat in the patio. It's Maple and she was around when we were dining. It so well behaved and knows not to come to the dining table. Would definitely go back again. ”
